Length, weight, temperature & more
Unit conversion is the kind of thing you look up several times a day and never memorise: centimetres to inches for a measurement, kilograms to pounds for a weight, Celsius to Fahrenheit for a recipe or a forecast. Pick a category, type a value, and the converted result appears immediately, using the exact internationally defined factors rather than rounded approximations — plus a quick-reference table of the common values in that pairing.
How to convert between units

The result updates as you type, with a reference table of common conversions below.
Good to know
- Many conversions are exact by definition: an inch is exactly 0.0254 metres and a pound exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, by international agreement.
- US and imperial volumes are genuinely different and both are included — a US gallon is 3.785 litres, an imperial gallon 4.546.
- Temperature converts through Celsius using proper formulas, because those scales differ in offset as well as step size and cannot be converted by multiplying.
- Data units use the 1024-based binary convention operating systems use, which is why a drive sold as 1 TB shows as roughly 931 GB.
What people use it for
- Converting a height, weight, or measurement between metric and imperial
- Switching recipe quantities between cups, millilitres, and ounces
- Reading a foreign weather forecast or speed limit in familiar units
Frequently asked questions
Which units are supported?+
Length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, and digital storage — including both US customary and imperial volumes, which differ: a US gallon is 3.785 litres and an imperial gallon is 4.546.
Are the conversion factors exact?+
Yes, where an exact definition exists. An inch is exactly 0.0254 m and a pound exactly 0.45359237 kg, both by international agreement, so those conversions are exact rather than approximated.
Why is temperature handled differently?+
Temperature scales have an offset as well as a different step size, so they cannot be converted by multiplying alone. Values are converted via Celsius using the proper formulas.
Are data units 1024 or 1000 based?+
1024, the binary convention used by operating systems. Drive manufacturers use 1000-based units, which is why a "1 TB" disk shows as roughly 931 GB.
Is my data sent to a server?+
No. Converting happens entirely in your browser using built-in web APIs. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged.
